The Kilimanjaro This mountain is reacheable for good excursionists
in a normal welth condition, with an adequate equipment and accompanied
by a professional guide, differently from what happens with the most part
of the mountains in the world which reach those heights. Kilimanjaro climb The way to Marangu First stop. Moving to Marangu entrance to the Kilimanjaro National Park and start climbing. The first shelter in Mandara at mt. 2750 is reachable after 4 hours walking, through a vast tropical forest area. Second stop. After having walked through the last part of the forest you can enter the savanna with trees and the moorland up to the Horombo shelter at mt. 3.700 where you overnight. Third stop. You go on climbing after the last water source and you go through the Grande Sella at mt. 4.000, which extends itself between Kibo and Mawenzi. Supper and overnight at Kibo shelter at mt. 4.700. Fourth
stop.
In the middle of the night you leave for the difficult climbing along
the detritus stratum up to Gillman's Point at mt. 5.681 at the crater.If
you are in a good phisical condition and the weather is good you can go
on to Uhuru peak at mt. 5.896 which is the highest part of Africa. Fifth stop. Down to Marangu at the Park entrance. The way to Machame First stop. Moving to Kilimanjaro National Park entrance and start climbing. The first shelter is at mt. 3.000. It is reachable after having crossed a wide tropical forest area. Second stop. Following a steep crest you enter the savanna with trees and the moorland. After having crossed "picknic rock", the flat-land and Shira cave you reach in the end Shira shelter at mt. 3.800. Third stop. Following Kibo direction you cross a wide vale, then you climb the crest and you reach Barranco shelter at mt. 3.900. Fourth stop. You cross Great Barranco Valley and you climb up the Barranco side coming to Karanga river, which is the last place to have water along this way. In the end after the last climbing along rocks slates you reach Barafu shelter at mt. 4.600. Fifth stop. In the middle of the night you leave for the last aim, Uhuru peak at mt. 5.896 which is the highest point of Africa. Down to Barafu shelter and going on to Mweka shelter. Sixth
