...bird watching or just sitting back to admire spectacular African Sunsets from nearby Mida Creek. Protected as part of the Watamu Marine National Park and considered to be one of the best snorkeling and diving areas on the East African coast, Watamu offers guests the opportunity to see an amazing diverse and abundant population of colorful Reef Fish, turtles and dolphins. The entire area has developed an international reputation for its pristine white-sand beaches and reef-protected lagoons which line the Watamu National Marine Park is the oldest in East Africa covering an area of over 229 sq km. There are approximately 600 species of fish, 110 species of stony coral and countless invertebrates, crustacea and molluscs.
The nearby village of Watamu is a Swahili fishing village that has grown into a small beach resort over the years. Due to a slow immigration of people from all over Kenya with different ethnicity and religion, the area is now populated by a mixture of cultures.
