Tsavo East National Park

...not all the park is open to the public: some areas are designated as "remote animal wilderness". Tsavo East can be accessed by three main gates: from Voithrough the Manyani gate, from Mombasa through the Bachuma gate or from Malindi through the Sala gate. There are many interesting aspects to the park among which the spine of the Yatta Plateau, one of the world's longest lava flows. An additional attraction is the Athi river flanked by stately doum palms which, near the Manyani gate, forms the famous Lugard Falls. Droughts are much more common in Tsavo East than West but this wilderness, seemingly so hostile, is nevertheless inhabited by a wide range of plains game including zebra, several species of antelope as well as large families of giraffes, gazelles and zebras.
